Mission Set
The UH-1N is a light-lift utility helicopter used to support various missions. The primary missions include: airlift of emergency security forces, security and surveillance of off-base nuclear weapons convoys, and distinguished visitor airlift. Other uses include: disaster response operations, search and rescue, medical evacuation, airborne cable inspections, support to aircrew survival school, aerial testing, routine missile site support and transport.
Training Flow
Becoming apart of the UH-1N Huey community will take time and dedication. Your training will begin at the Center of Excellence (Lackland AFB, TX) where you will learn the basic fundamentals of aviation as a Career Enlisted Aviator (CoE). Following your completion, at the CoE, you will transition to the 512th Rescue Squadron at Kirtland AFB, NM. Here you will learn the crew dynamics and aircraft specifics of the mighty UH-1N Huey helicopter. After a vigorous 6 month training program you will graduate as a mission qualified Huey Special Missions Aviator. Your last piece of training will be at Survivor School (SERE). Here you will hone your skills as a qualified member to survive in tough environment as well as behind enemy lines.
